Wagholi, 12th April 2025: A severe water shortage has gripped several villages including Wagholi, Loni Kalbhor, and Kesnand, after the Vadhu Budruk barrage dried up completely, disrupting water supply for the past three days.

Wagholi relies on a single water supply scheme sourced from the Vadhu Budruk barrage. However, this year, the barrage dried up earlier than expected, causing a complete halt to the water supply since the past three days. The scheme primarily serves the original village areas, with housing societies already excluded due to limited capacity. These societies are solely dependent on private water tankers.

The situation has left residents struggling with acute water scarcity. Even after water is released from the dam, it will take at least three to four more days for it to reach the barrage and resume supply. In the meantime, citizens have no choice but to purchase expensive private water tankers, as the municipal corporation does not currently provide tanker services in Wagholi.

MLA Dnyaneshwar Katke has urged the Irrigation Department to release water into the barrage to ease the crisis and the residents are advised to manage the water supply wisely.
