Pune: One Of The Youths Involved In Abusive Incident With Foreign Tourist At Sinhagad Fort Issues Public Apology After Viral Video Sparks Outrage
Pune, 16th April 2025: A disturbing incident occurred at Pune’s Sinhagad Fort, where a group of unruly youths forced a foreign tourist from New Zealand to curse in Marathi. The incident, which took place on 3rd April, only came to light after a video of the act went viral on social media.
The video shows a group of young men engaging in inappropriate behavior with the foreign tourist and coercing him to utter obscenities in Marathi. The clip quickly spread across various platforms, sparking outrage across different sections of society. Calls for strict action against the youths intensified, with many demanding that they be booked for their behavior.
In response to the public outcry, Haveli Police filed charges against the four youths involved in the incident. One of the youths later came forward to apologize for his actions, acknowledging his mistake. He explained in a video that he had acted thoughtlessly, not realizing the severity of his behavior while at the fort.
The tourist, who is a YouTuber had posted the entire video on his YouTube channel, which further fueled the viral spread of the incident. In his apology, one of the youths admitted, “I made a huge mistake. I didn’t realize I was at the fort, and in the heat of the moment, I used foul language with my friends. It was a big mistake. Please forgive me.”
The incident occurred when the foreign tourist was visiting Sinhagad Fort, and a group of eight to ten individuals from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar also arrived at the site. The youths approached the tourist and started interacting with him before coercing him into repeating Marathi abuses. The tourist, who did not understand Marathi, complied with their requests, resulting in the video becoming a sensation on social media.
