Pune: Horizons at Wakad Society Goes Green with 125 kWp Rooftop Solar Power Project
Wakad, 3rd May 2025: In a major stride toward sustainable living, Horizons at Wakad Society inaugurated its 125 kWp rooftop solar photovoltaic power plant on Maharashtra Day, May 1. The event marked a turning point in the society’s journey to becoming a fully self-sustained and eco-conscious community.
The solar project was officially inaugurated by residents Sandip Yeole and Punam Yeole, in the presence of an enthusiastic gathering of society members. Their participation underscored the collective commitment of the residents toward clean energy adoption and environmental responsibility.
With this installation, Horizons at Wakad is now powering its common utilities, Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), Organic Waste Converter (OWC), Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations, and other shared amenities entirely through solar energy.
The project is expected to yield monthly savings of approximately ₹3 lakh, significantly reducing the society’s carbon footprint and electricity expenses.
