Pune Volunteers Collect Plastic Waste Near Shaniwar Wada During Palkhi Drive
Pune, 23rd June 2025: As part of a dedicated effort to maintain cleanliness during the ongoing Palkhi procession, a group of volunteers from ‘Pune Ploggers’ carried out a clean-up drive near the historic Shaniwar Wada on Saturday. This marked the group’s 570th drive.
A total of 15 volunteers participated in the clean-up and collected seven full bags of plastic waste from the area. The initiative, aligned with the spirit of environmental consciousness and civic responsibility, is part of the group’s ongoing weekend efforts to raise awareness about waste management and environmental sustainability.
Pune Ploggers, a citizen-led group known for combining jogging with litter collection (plogging), has called on more citizens to join hands in keeping the city clean, especially during large public events like the Palkhi, which sees massive footfall.
The group urged people to support the cause by joining their weekly drives and spreading awareness through social media.
