Pune: PMC Cracks Down on Plastic Vendors in Dhayari; Fines Total Rs 25,000, 150 kg Plastic Seized

Dhayari, 24th June 2025: In a significant enforcement action, Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Sinhgad Road Ward Office conducted a special drive against vendors and businesses violating plastic ban norms and maintaining poor sanitation in the Dhayari area. The flying squad collected fines amounting to ₹25,000 and seized 150 kilograms of banned plastic material.

The crackdown targeted plastic sellers, hotel and bakery owners, eateries, fruit and flower vendors, and other commercial establishments operating in the locality. Vendors found selling plastic were fined ₹5,000, while individuals or businesses causing public nuisance through unsanitary practices were fined ₹500 each.

This drive is part of PMC Commissioner’s initiative to strengthen cleanliness and enforce the plastic ban across the city. Dedicated flying squads, each equipped with a vehicle, have been formed and authorized to carry out surprise inspections and take immediate action.

The operation in Dhayari was conducted under the guidance of Assistant Municipal Commissioner Pragya Potdar, with Senior Health Inspectors Ashish Supnar and Mangaldas Mane overseeing the team. The squad included Health Inspector Shubham Dolas, Mukkadam Mahesh Londhe, and PMC staffers.

In addition to punitive measures, the PMC team also educated vendors and residents on the importance of hygiene and adhering to the city’s cleanliness standards.
