Pune, 23rd July 2026: As part of its ongoing GIFT City Industry Connect (GCIC) initiative across India’s leading economic centres, GIFT City engaged with business leaders in Pune today to deepen collaboration with one of the country’s most globally connected industrial ecosystems. The engagement reflects a larger national vision: connecting India’s centres of manufacturing, technology and innovation with world-class international financial infrastructure.

India’s economic story is entering a new phase. Indian companies are no longer competing only within domestic markets—they are acquiring businesses overseas, building global supply chains, establishing international R&D centres and serving customers across continents. While India’s industrial capabilities have matured rapidly, globally competitive financial infrastructure must evolve alongside them. GIFT City’s International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) has been created to fulfil precisely that role.

Pune exemplifies this transformation. Home to globally recognised companies in automotive, engineering, precision manufacturing, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, information technology and Global Capability Centres, the city has become one of the principal engines of India’s integration into global value chains. As these enterprises become increasingly international, their requirements extend beyond production and innovation to sophisticated treasury management, cross-border capital, risk management and international financial structuring.

The discussions explored how GIFT City’s internationally benchmarked regulatory and financial ecosystem can complement Pune’s industrial strengths by enabling companies to manage global treasury operations, raise international capital, undertake overseas investments, establish Corporate Treasury Centres and access specialised financial services—all while remaining headquartered and creating value in India.

Speaking on the occasion Sanjay Kaul, Managing Director & Group CEO, GIFT City, “The success of India’s economic transformation will not be measured only by the number of factories we build or the products we export. It will also be measured by whether Indian enterprises have access to financial infrastructure that matches their global ambitions.”

He further added, “Cities such as Pune have created globally competitive capabilities in manufacturing, engineering, technology and innovation. GIFT City is designed to complement these strengths by providing globally benchmarked financial infrastructure. Together, they create a powerful combination—world-class industrial capability supported by world-class international finance.”

Kaul said, “Our objective is not to shift businesses from Pune to GIFT City. Manufacturing, research, innovation and talent belong where they have naturally flourished. Our role is different. We want GIFT City to become the financial gateway through which these enterprises access global capital, manage international treasury, structure overseas investments and compete more effectively in international markets.”

He further shared, “The larger vision is to build an integrated national economic architecture. India’s great industrial and technology clusters should remain engines of production and innovation, while GIFT City serves as the financial backbone that connects them seamlessly with global capital and international markets. That is how India can create globally competitive enterprises while ensuring value creation remains anchored within the country.”

The Pune edition of GCIC underscores GIFT City’s commitment to building enduring partnerships with India’s leading economic centres. By integrating industrial excellence with internationally competitive financial services, GIFT City aims to help Indian enterprises scale globally from India and strengthen the country’s position in the international economic landscape.
