Dighi, 27th June 2025: The search for an 18-year-old girl who went missing from Dighi area ended in heartbreak on Thursday morning when her body was recovered from a deep well in Choviswadi, Charholi.

The girl, identified as Vaishnavi Ingwale, had been reported missing by her family on June 25. After she failed to return home, her relatives approached the Dighi Police and lodged a formal complaint. A local search ensued, during which a piece of cloth believed to be Vaishnavi’s was discovered near a well located not far from her residence.

Following this lead, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Fire Brigade launched a rescue operation. Multiple fire tenders from Choviswadi, Moshi, and Pimpri stations were dispatched. Using an underwater camera, the emergency team located the girl’s body approximately 45 feet below the surface of the well. She was then retrieved using rope equipment and handed over to the police for further procedure.

“We haven’t received any information from the family that indicates a specific cause of death,” said Inspector Bapu Dhere of the Dighi Police Station, Pimpri Chinchwad Police. “Initial observations suggest it could be an accidental fall, but we are not ruling out any possibilities, including suicide or foul play.”

The body was sent for a postmortem examination, and authorities are awaiting the autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigations are being carried out under the supervision of the Dighi Police to explore all possible angles.
