Pune, 27th June 2025: In response to growing traffic congestion in Hinjawadi, Mann, Mhalunge, and Marunji, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase has directed the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to urgently submit its land acquisition proposals to the District Collector.

The directive came during a review meeting chaired by Dr. Mhase at PMRDA’s Akurdi office on Thursday. The meeting included MLA Shankar Mandekar, affected farmers, and senior administrative officials.

Land acquisition, particularly for critical stretches such as Mann Road, has faced significant delays, adding to the hardships of daily commuters. Dr. Mhase instructed MIDC officials to promptly prepare a detailed report specifying the extent of private land required and forward it to the Collector’s office. He also asked the Survey and Land Records (SLR) department to speed up measurements, which would help clear confusion among landowners and enable faster resolution of traffic bottlenecks.

Officials assured that affected farmers would receive fair compensation or Transferable Development Rights (TDR) as per prevailing regulations, after considering their objections and suggestions.

During the meeting, several farmers expressed worries about the planned 45-meter-wide roads, fearing that it would impact many homes inside village limits. They suggested reducing the proposed road width to 24 meters to minimize displacement.

PMRDA officials clarified that work on alternative internal roads has already been approved and will begin shortly to further ease traffic in these high-density areas.

The meeting was attended by MLA Shankar Mandekar, PMRDA Additional Commissioner Deepak Singla, Director of Development Permissions and Planning Sunil Marale, Chief Engineer Rinaz Pathan, Land and Property Officer Himmat Kharade, along with representatives from the MIDC, Public Works Department, and other government agencies.

Addressing concerns over the widening of the Hinjawadi-Mann main road, Dr. Mhase directed officials to handle TDR processes, valuation, and compensation transparently, ensuring farmers’ rights and welfare are safeguarded. He emphasized that no farmer should suffer economic or social harm because of these infrastructure upgrades.
