Pune: Person Accused of Attempted Murder Submits Fake Birth Certificate in Pimpri-Chinchwad Court, Claims to Be a Minor
Pimpri-Chinchwad, 28th June 2025: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have registered a case against five individuals for creating and submitting a fake birth certificate in court to falsely present an accused in an attempted murder case as a minor, aiming to secure instant bail. Although the accused, Shriram Rathod, is 18 years old as per official school records, he was shown to be 16 in the fabricated document to evade adult prosecution.
The incident occurred in Court No. 9 of the First Class Magistrate at Pimpri. Kalewadi Police have registered a case against Shivaji Aade and Om Aade, both residents of Rahatani; a female accused and Uttam Rathod, both residents of Rajgurunagar and natives of Parbhani; Jivandas Surendra from Rahatani; and two others.
The case has been filed under Sections 318 (cheating), 336 (forgery), 340 (use of forged document or electronic record as genuine), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to police reports, on 13th June, accused Shriram Rathod (18), a resident of Rajgurunagar, had his bail hearing at Pimpri Court. His actual date of birth, according to school records, is 15th January 2007, which makes him a legal adult. However, to gain leniency under juvenile laws, he submitted a forged birth certificate with the date of birth listed as 15th January 2009.
Pimpri Court uncovered the fraud and directed Kalewadi Police to register a case against all those involved. Police Sub-Inspector N.M. Suryavanshi became the official complainant in the case, while Police Sub-Inspector Pote from Kalewadi Police Station is currently leading the investigation.
