‘Kaanta Laga’ Fame Shefali Jariwala Passes Away at 42, Cardiac Arrest Suspected
Mumbai, 28th June 2025: Popular model and actress Shefali Jariwala, famously known as the ‘Kaanta Laga Girl’, passed away late Friday night after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest. She was 42.
Sources said Shefali was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in Andheri West in an unconscious state by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, along with three others. However, the hospital’s staff confirmed that she was brought in dead.
“She was unresponsive when brought in. Despite all efforts, she could not be revived,” said a hospital staff member, requesting anonymity.
Her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death. Initial reports indicate a sudden cardiac arrest.
Shefali rose to national fame in the early 2000s after featuring in the hugely popular music video Kaanta Laga, which became a cultural sensation. Her energetic performance and distinctive look earned her instant recognition and the nickname ‘Kaanta Laga Girl’.
She went on to act in Salman Khan-starrer Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and appeared in several reality shows including Nach Baliye and Bigg Boss 13, where she became a household name once again.
Tributes have poured in from across the entertainment industry. Singer Mika Singh, expressing shock, wrote on his Instagram story: “I am very sad, shocked, and feel heavy in my heart. Our beloved star and my dear friend Shefali Jariwala left us. May her soul rest in peace.”
Actor-comedian Kiku Sharda, who had worked with Shefali on a web series, also shared his condolences: “This news is shocking. She was full of energy and life. Always met with a big, bright smile. You will be missed, Shefali. You were a very beautiful soul.”
Fans, friends, and colleagues continue to express grief over the sudden demise of the vibrant artist who made a lasting impression on India’s pop culture scene.
