Thieves Rob Family, Attempt Sexual Assault on Minor Girl Near Daund on Pune-Solapur Highway

Daund, 30th June 2025: A family traveling for religious purposes was robbed and a minor girl narrowly escaped an assault in a shocking incident on the Pune-Solapur Highway in Daund taluka. The crime occurred on Sunday evening near Swami Chincholi village, raising concerns about the safety of travelers in the area.

The family, traveling by car from Pune to Solapur, had stopped for tea at an restaurant near Swami Chincholi around 4:45 PM. While they were parked in front of the establishment, two men on a motorcycle threatened the family with a koyta. The assailants, targeting a group that included seven members, several of whom were women, snatched jewelry from the women at knifepoint. During the robbery, one of the attackers attempted to assault a minor girl by dragging her into nearby bushes. The girl managed to raise an alarm, prompting the criminals to flee the scene on their motorcycle.

Shaken by the incident, the family drove to Daund and filed a complaint at the Daund Police Station. Taking the matter seriously, Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill ordered an immediate investigation. Teams from Daund, Bhigwan, and the Local Crime Branch (LCB) were dispatched to track down the suspects. Authorities have also begun questioning known offenders in the area, which has seen previous incidents of highway robberies.

Local residents have called for increased police patrolling in Swami Chincholi, citing a rise in such crimes. Police continue their search for the culprits, with teams actively pursuing leads to bring the perpetrators to justice.
