Pune Rural Police Release Sketch of Main Suspect in Daund Minor Assault and Robbery Case

Daund, 2nd July 2025: Pune Rural Police have released the sketch of main suspect wanted in a case involving the sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl and robbery of gold ornaments from three women near Daund on the Pune-Solapur highway. The incident occurred early morning on 30th June, around 4:15 am near Swami Chincholi when a group of seven devotees traveling to Pandharpur stopped their vehicle for a tea break.

According to police, two men on a motorcycle approached the vehicle, threatened the occupants with a koyta, and threw chili powder into their eyes to blind them. They robbed the women of gold necklaces and earrings before forcibly pulling the minor girl out of the vehicle and sexually assaulting her a short distance away. The girl’s cries for help forced the assailants to flee the scene.

The case has been registered at Daund Police Station under sections 64, 309(6), 351(2), 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant Arms Act provisions. Pune Rural Police have deployed multiple teams and are analyzing over 50 CCTV footage clips along the Pune-Solapur highway, tracing the suspects’ movements up to Indapur. The motorcycle used had its number plate painted white to conceal identity.

Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill and Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Daund Bapurao Dadas have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any information related to the suspects.
