Kondhwa Rape Case: Pune Police Intensify Search for Man Who Posed as Courier Agent
Kondhwa, 3rd July 2025: In a shocking incident in Pune’s Kondhwa area, a 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped in her apartment by a man posing as a delivery agent. The crime took place around 7:30 PM on Tuesday.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajkumar Shinde, the accused arrived at the victim’s residence with a bank envelope, claiming it was a courier. He told the woman he had forgotten his pen and requested one to complete the delivery formalities. When she went inside to get a pen, the accused forcibly entered, shut the door, and sexually assaulted her.
Following the attack, the woman was reportedly unconscious for several hours. Police suspect the accused may have used a chemical spray or substance to incapacitate her. A team of forensic experts was immediately called to the scene for evidence collection.
Investigators are examining a selfie retrieved from the woman’s phone for possible leads. A detailed panchnama has been conducted, and the victim’s medical examination is underway.
To expedite the investigation, 10 teams have been formed — five from the Crime Branch and five from the local police units. “We are confident of arresting the accused soon,” said DCP Shinde.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) — Sections 64 (rape), 77 (house trespass), and 351(2) (assault with intent). Further forensic reports are awaited as the investigation progresses.
