Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad MNS to Hold ‘Chakka Jam’ at Nigdi Signal on 10th July Over Road Hazards
Nigdi, 7th July 2025 — The Pimpri-Chinchwad unit of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has announced a “chakka jam andolan” (road blockade protest) at Nigdi Signal on 10th July, citing dangerous road conditions caused by metro construction and neglected potholes on the old Mumbai-Pune Highway.
MNS Pimpri-Chinchwad City President Sachin Chikhale said the protest is being organized to draw attention to severe potholes and incomplete metro work that have made commuting hazardous. Key concern areas include the bridge stretch between Nigdi and Akurdi, and the road near Shrikrishna Temple in the Bhakti Shakti area, which has reportedly remained dug up and inaccessible for over a year.
According to Chikhale, repeated complaints and formal representations to the metro authorities have gone unanswered. The poor road conditions have led to frequent accidents and ongoing inconvenience to commuters and local residents alike.

The planned demonstration is being led by MNS city president Sachin Chikhale, vice president Raju Sawale, branch presidents Jay Sakat and Rohit Kalbhor, and party worker Akash Kamble. The organizers have submitted a letter to the police informing them of the upcoming protest and have urged the public to take note of the demonstration, stressing the urgent need for road repairs and improved safety measures in the affected areas.
