Kondhwa Police Arrest Two for Stealing Vehicles Across Pune; Eight Cases Solved, Property Worth Rs 2.35 Lakh Recovered
Kondhwa, 7th July 2025 — The Detection Branch (DB) of Kondhwa Police Station has arrested two individuals involved in a vehicle theft racket operating across Pune city and rural areas. The arrests came during the investigation of a Bajaj auto-rickshaw theft reported on 30th June in the Kondhwa area.
Acting on a tip-off from a reliable source, Police Constables Laxman Holkar, Vikas Margale, and Vijay Khengre received information that the theft was committed by Pralhad Ikhe (23) and Gajanan Khatpate (24), both residents of Kondhwa.
A team laid a trap near Khadi Machine Chowk on Pisoli Road, where the suspects were intercepted while traveling in the same stolen rickshaw. They were immediately arrested by the Kondhwa Police.
Following their arrest, one auto-rickshaw and seven stolen two-wheelers were recovered from their possession. The recovered vehicles are linked to eight different theft cases, including five registered at Kondhwa Police Station and one each at Lashkar, Kharadi, and Bhor Police Stations.
Police said the total value of the recovered stolen property amounts to approximately ₹2.35 lakh.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior Pune Police officials and was led by Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar, in charge of Kondhwa Police Station, and Police Inspector (Crime) Navnath Jagtap, along with their dedicated detection team.
The investigation is ongoing to trace any additional stolen vehicles and uncover potential links to other crimes in the region.
