Pune: Closed Public Toilet at Bhide Garden in Dhayari Causes Inconvenience for Locals
Dhayari, 8th July 2025: Despite being fully constructed, the public toilet at Bhide Garden near Abhiruchi Mall in Vadgaon, Dhayari, remains non-operational, causing significant inconvenience to local residents, especially women and senior citizens.
Bhide Garden serves as a vital recreational and fitness space for hundreds of residents who visit daily for morning and evening walks. However, the inaccessibility of the toilet facility inside the park has become a pressing concern for its regular visitors.
According to locals, while the structure is complete, the toilet is reportedly being used only by the garden’s maintenance staff and not the general public. “The garden is frequented by children, elderly citizens, and women, yet the public toilet is off-limits. This causes major discomfort, particularly during longer visits,” said one of the local residents.
When contacted, Pawan Karande, Junior Engineer from the Garden Department, said, “The toilet facility currently comes under the Social Welfare Department. Minor repairs are pending. Once the Social Welfare Department transfers control to our Garden Department, we will make it operational.”
Residents are now demanding that the facility be made available for public use immediately to ensure the convenience and dignity of all visitors.
