Pune: Work on Lohgaon’s Incomplete DP Road to Resume Soon, Says MLA Bapusaheb Pathare
Lohgaon, 14th July 2025: Relief may soon be on the way for Lohgaon residents as long-delayed work on the Development Plan (DP) road along Bharat Mata Road (parallel to Porwal Road) is expected to restart shortly. Vadgaonsheri MLA Bapusaheb Pathare has confirmed that the road marking process will be completed within the coming week, paving the way for further construction.
The stretch has long been a source of frustration for citizens due to large potholes, stagnant rainwater, and open discharge of sewage. The roadwork has been stalled for several years, primarily due to pending land acquisition and unresolved compensation issues with local landowners. The situation escalated last week when Lohgaon residents staged a protest against the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), demanding urgent civic action.
In response to mounting public pressure, MLA Bapusaheb Pathare visited the site on Sunday with PMC officials to inspect the poor condition of the road. He interacted with affected landowners and directed civic workers to begin temporary repairs by pouring mortar into the worst potholes.
Speaking to reporters after the inspection, Pathare said, “The DP road in the Lohgaon-Dhanori area has been incomplete for too long. I have instructed PMC to expedite the land marking process so that the road work can begin without further delay. We are also in talks with the landowners to resolve the pending issues amicably.”
Municipal officials accompanying the MLA confirmed that the full road construction will proceed in a phased and planned manner once the land boundaries are clearly defined.
