Pune-Bengaluru Highway Blocked for SUV Reel Shoot, 5 Satara Youths Face FIR
Satara, 15th July 2025: Five youngsters from Satara have landed in legal trouble after halting traffic on the Pune–Bengaluru National Highway (NH-48) to film a social media reel featuring a newly purchased SUV. The incident took place on July 10, causing a traffic jam that lasted nearly 20 minutes.
Those booked include Om Jadhav, Kushal Kadam, Soham Shinde, Nikhil Mahangade, and a minor. All are residents of Satara city, and the case has been registered at the Satara City Police Station.
According to police officials, 21-year-old Om Jadhav had just taken delivery of a brand-new SUV worth ₹20 lakh. On his way back from the showroom, he and his friends stopped their vehicle on a bridge near the Bombay Restaurant, right on the national highway. They then recorded a video, allegedly using a drone without permission, and later uploaded the footage to social media.
The video soon caught the attention of the local police.
“We reviewed the video and identified the individuals involved,” said Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Mhaske. “They were booked for causing obstruction on a national highway and for unauthorized use of a drone.”
As part of corrective action, police instructed Jadhav to record a video confession and issue a public message discouraging others from carrying out such reckless stunts.
“Young people must understand that showing off at the cost of public safety is unacceptable,” Inspector Mhaske added. “We urge citizens not to misuse public roads for social media content.”
