Pune: Pune Civic Body Scraps Garbage Tenders Over Inflated Rates: Minister Madhuri Misal
Mumbai, 14th July 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has cancelled its recent solid waste management tender process after it was discovered that the bids were inflated by 5 to 7 percent, Minister of State Madhuri Misal informed the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
The disclosure came in response to a question raised by MLA Bhimrao Tapkir, who sought clarity on the irregularities in the tender process.
Minister Misal clarified that while the tenders were indeed submitted at higher-than-expected rates, the entire process has since been annulled, and no financial loss has occurred to the civic body as a result.
“The government had directed the municipal corporation to investigate the matter and take appropriate action. Accordingly, PMC cancelled the tender process,” she said.
Although there was no direct monetary loss, the administrative costs incurred during the bidding process will now be evaluated. Instructions will be issued to the PMC on recovering these expenses, she added.
Minister Misal further urged legislators to submit specific information if they have concerns about any particular tenders. “If members suspect irregularities in any specific tender or believe a deeper probe is necessary, they should share those details. Proper inquiries will be conducted, and strict action will be taken where required,” she assured.
