Pune, 15th July 2025: In a bid to promote the affordability of public transportation, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) has shared a comparative cost analysis of commuting options on its official social media handle. The post highlights the economic advantage of using PMPML buses over private and commercial transport modes for daily travel in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.

According to PMPML, a monthly bus pass for travel within the municipal corporation areas costs just ₹1,500, while a pass for commuting across the PMRDA region is priced at ₹2,700 per month. Students can avail a concessional pass at ₹750 per month, making it one of the most economical options for daily travel.

The post contrasts these rates with the average monthly expenses of using private and commercial vehicles:
Bike: ₹3,000–₹6,000
Car: ₹4,000–₹9,000
Cab: ₹6,000–₹12,000
Autorickshaw: ₹3,000–₹6,000
Private Bus: ₹2,000–₹10,000
Through this comparison, PMPML aims to underline the substantial savings commuters can achieve by switching to public transport, in addition to reducing traffic congestion and contributing to a cleaner environment.

However, many netizens have demanded a reduction in the cost of monthly passes, along with improved punctuality and cleanliness of buses.
