Pune: Road Rage Incident in Wagholi After Mercedes-Swift Collision, No Kidnapping Involved – DCP Clarifies

Wagholi, 20th July 2025: A road accident involving a Mercedes and a Swift car on the busy stretch towards Nagar Road in Wagholi triggered a heated confrontation between both parties, causing panic among bystanders. However, police have clarified that no kidnapping or fatalities occurred in the incident.
The collision reportedly led to a violent altercation. Initial reports suggested that after the crash, individuals from the Swift car vandalized the Mercedes and allegedly assaulted its occupants, including women. There were also claims that a child from the Mercedes was forcibly taken in an attempt to seek compensation.
However, DCP (Zone 4) Somay Munde clarified: “No kidnapping. Accident did happen. No fatalities. Both parties are at the police station. Legal procedures are ongoing.”
Police officials from the Wagholi police station responded swiftly and brought both parties to the police station for further inquiry. An FIR is in the process of being registered, and CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed.
Eyewitness accounts and other evidence are being verified as part of the ongoing investigation. Police have urged the public not to spread unverified information.
