Pune: Tuition Teacher Booked for Assaulting 10-Year-Old Boy with Belt and Notebooks
Kondhwa, 27th July 2025: A 35-year-old woman conducting private tuition classes from her residence in Kondhwa has been booked for allegedly assaulting a 10-year-old boy, a student in her class.
The incident reportedly occurred around 5 PM on Wednesday, when the teacher allegedly hit the child with a belt and notebooks, causing injuries to his head and chest.
The case was registered on Friday following a formal complaint by the child’s 33-year-old mother, who resides in the same locality.
According to Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar of Kondhwa Police Station, the accused runs coaching classes for primary school students at her flat in a residential society in Kondhwa. “The complainant lives nearby, and her son had been attending the classes for several months. The teacher usually handles all subjects for the students,” Patankar said.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the teacher became angry when the student failed to present his notebooks or show the completed homework. “She reportedly scolded the child and then beat him using a belt and some notebooks. As a result, the boy sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention,” the officer added.
“The child was discharged after receiving preliminary treatment. Based on the medical documents submitted by the mother, we have registered an FIR,” Patankar said.
The police have filed a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to voluntarily causing hurt. Further investigation is underway.
