Citywide Restrictions on Heavy Vehicles in Pune; Red Zones Created

Pune, 1st August 2025: The Pune Police Traffic Branch has imposed new restrictions on heavy vehicles such as dumpers, mixers, and others to reduce traffic congestion and minimize inconvenience to the public.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav has issued an order stating that on weekends and on 15th August (Independence Day) this month, heavy vehicles will be banned citywide in designated red zones during peak hours from 4 pm to 10 pm. Outside these hours, heavy vehicles will be allowed to operate as usual.

The red zones include 31 high-traffic areas such as Viman Nagar, Koregaon Park, Aundh, Sinhagad Road, Satara Road, Market Yard, Camp, Magarpatta, Mundhwa, NIBM Road, and Kondhwa.

In these zones, slow-moving vehicles like JCBs, trailers, tractors, etc., will not be permitted during the restricted hours. Only heavy vehicles with prior permission from the Traffic Branch will be allowed, and even then, not during peak hours in the red zones.
