Kasba Peth/Camp, 10th October 2026: Pune Police detained 88 protesters near Shaniwar Wada on Saturday after they gathered to protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and the Election Commission of India, despite the denial of permission for a planned rally.
According to information shared by DCP PR Patil of Pune City Police, several organisations (including CJP) had sought permission to organise a rally from Shaniwar Wada to the Pune Collector’s Office on October 10. However, the police denied permission, citing concerns over law and order and the maintenance of public peace.
Despite the denial, some protesters gathered on the road near Shaniwar Wada on Saturday afternoon, causing traffic disruption. Police detained 88 protesters and took them to Lashkar Police Station.
