Pune Launches ‘PMC Road Mitra’ App for Pothole Complaints, Inaugurated by Municipal Commissioner
Pune, 12th August 2025: In a bid to streamline pothole repairs and improve road safety, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched the PMC Road Mitra mobile application. Developed by the PMC’s Road Department, the app allows residents to report potholes by uploading photos that automatically capture the exact GPS coordinates, enabling the civic body to locate and repair the damage more efficiently.
Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram formally inaugurated the app, which is now available for Android users on the Google Play Store.
Persistent rains and ongoing digging work for drainage and water pipeline projects have worsened the condition of many city roads, leading to dangerous potholes. Substandard repair work has further contributed to uneven surfaces, creating hazards for two-wheeler riders and resulting in several accidents, injuries, and, in some cases, lifelong disabilities.
According to Road Department head Aniruddha Pawaskar, the app is designed for simplicity and aims to ensure greater transparency, accountability, and faster resolution of road maintenance issues.

How It Works
Users can upload two to three photographs or a short video of the pothole via the app. The location-tagged complaint is automatically routed to the junior engineer responsible for that ward. The engineer must carry out the repairs and upload both “before” and “after” images. Only then is the complaint marked as resolved.
A built-in dashboard allows senior officials in the Road Department to track the number of complaints, monitor repair progress, and identify any delays or unattended cases.
