Pune: Traffic Diversions for Krishna Janmashtami and Dahi Handi Festivities
Pune, 15th August 2025: Large gatherings are expected in Pune for Shri Krishna Janmashtami on August 15 and Dahi Handi celebrations on August 16. To avoid congestion, the city’s Traffic Branch has announced diversions and road closures in key areas, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav said on Thursday.
Bundgarden Division: Blue Nilesh Chowk Road will be closed from 8 a.m. to midnight on August 16. Alternate routes will remain open in both directions.
Kondhwa Division: U-turns at Gagan Unnati Chowk and Kaizur Lodge will be closed from 9 a.m. on August 15 to 9 p.m. on August 16. The road from Khadi Machine Police Chauki to Shri Ram Chowk will also be shut during this period.
Wanwadi Division: Shivarkar Road will be closed from 4 p.m. on August 15 until crowds disperse. Motorists should use Samvidhan Chowk and Salunkhe Vihar Road as alternatives.
Faraskhana & Vishrambaug Divisions: From 4 p.m. on August 16, traffic restrictions will be in place at several points along Shivaji Road, Bajirao Road, Ganesh Road, and Laxmi Road. Commuters are advised to take FC Road and Juni Satoti Chowki routes instead.
The Traffic Department has appealed to citizens to follow diversions and cooperate with the police to ensure smooth movement during the festivities.
