Pune: Shivajinagar Police Recovers 41 Lost Mobile Phones Worth Rs 5 Lakh

Shivajinagar, 16th August 2025: Marking the 79th Independence Day with a special initiative, the cyber squad of Shivajinagar Police Station successfully recovered 41 lost mobile phones valued at Rs 5 lakh and returned them to their rightful owners. The devices had been traced to various districts of Maharashtra and even outside the state.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi. Cyber Cell API Santosh Patil, police personnel Tejas Chopde and Adesh Chalwadi played a key role in preparing data of missing mobile phones, conducting technical investigations, and repeatedly tracking usage patterns. Investigations revealed that the stolen and missing devices were being actively used in different regions, making recovery possible.
After coordinating with the users and local police stations across districts, the squad recovered 41 devices. These were formally handed back to complainants at Shivajinagar Police Station in the presence of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Krushikesh Rawale and ACP Sainath Thombre.
The recipients expressed gratitude after receiving his mobile, stating that the recovery was a great relief.
The investigation team comprised PI (Crime) Dhananjay Pingle, API Santosh Patil, PSI Manisha Valse, and police personnel Nalini Kshirsagar, Aadesh Chalwadi, Tejas Chopde, and Navnath Atole.
How to Report a Lost Mobile Phone in Pune
Pune Police advised citizens to follow the proper process to increase the chances of recovery:
File an online complaint on the Pune Police website: https://www.punepolice.gov.in/report-us/lost-and-found.
Select the nearest police station, print the form, and submit it at the respective police station.
Obtain a duplicate SIM card of the same number and activate it.
Register the lost mobile on the government’s Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal: www.CEIR.gov.in.
Upload a copy of the police complaint, purchase receipt, and ID proof. An OTP will be sent to the reactivated SIM for verification.
Police officials urged citizens to promptly report cases of mobile theft or loss, assuring that coordinated technical investigations can help track and return devices efficiently.
