Why DPS Chose Pune East for Its New School Campus in Wagholi Amid Rapid Urban Growth

Wagholi, 16th July 2026: As Pune’s eastern suburbs continue to expand, the demand for quality education is rising alongside the region’s rapid residential growth. Looking to tap into this demand, Delhi Public School (DPS) Pune East has announced its new campus in Ubalenagar and says it has already received an encouraging response from parents after opening Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for admissions for the 2027–28 academic year.
The school has invited EOIs for admissions from Nursery to Grade VI, with the formal admission process expected to begin in the coming months. Addressing the media on Thursday, school officials said DPS Pune East will add one higher grade each academic year until it becomes a full K–12 institution offering education up to Grade XII. Once fully operational, the school expects to enrol between 1,000 and 1,500 students.
The launch comes at a time when Kharadi, Wagholi and surrounding areas are witnessing rapid urbanisation, attracting a growing number of young families. School officials said the campus aims to meet the educational needs of this expanding population by combining academic excellence with experiential learning, sports, arts and life skills.
Backed by the Delhi Public School Society, which has operated schools across India for more than seven decades, the institution said it will focus on nurturing critical thinking, creativity and confidence while placing equal emphasis on values and holistic development.
Speaking at the event, Siddharth Rajgarhia, Chief Learner and Director, said the school’s vision extends beyond conventional classroom teaching and examinations.
“Education should do more than help students score good marks. It should encourage them to think, ask questions, build confidence and grow into responsible individuals,” he said.
Rajgarhia said the fee structure would be comparable to that of other established schools in the area, making it competitive with nearby institutions. He also said admissions would include a lottery system for a section of applicants wherever demand exceeds the available seats to ensure fairness. The school also plans to introduce scholarships based on various criteria, with details to be announced later.
In addition to academics, the school said it will place significant emphasis on mental well-being through programmes designed to support both students and teachers. Officials said creating a healthy learning environment is equally important as academic achievement.
The campus will feature smart classrooms, AI-enabled learning tools, STEM and subject-specific laboratories, innovation spaces, performing arts facilities, and sports infrastructure for football, cricket, basketball, badminton and pickleball. Safety features will include 24-hour CCTV surveillance, GPS-enabled school buses and secure campus access systems.
The school’s journey officially commenced with an office puja ceremony held on Thursday. The campus, located at Survey No. 1347, Ubalenagar, Wagholi, is expected to cater to families across Pune’s rapidly developing eastern corridor.
