Pimpri-Chinchwad: Woman Attacked With Blade by Husband Over Divorce Dispute, Two Arrested
Thergaon, 18th August 2025: In a shocking incident at Thergaon in Pimpri-Chinchwad, a 22-year-old woman was brutally attacked with a blade by her husband after she allegedly refused to grant him a divorce. The victim sustained severe injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Saturday at M.M. Chowk in Thergaon. According to police, the accused Salman Ramzan Shaikh (29), a resident of Kalewadi, and his associate Huzefa Abed Shaikh (27), originally from Beed district, confronted the woman while she was on her way to work.
Salman, suspecting his wife of having “illicit relations” with a co-worker and enraged over her refusal to agree to a divorce, allegedly attacked her with a blade, leaving her grievously injured. Following the assault, both men fled the spot.
The injured woman, a resident of Bharatnagar in Pimpri, later filed a complaint at Kalewadi Police Station. Acting swiftly, police arrested both accused and booked them for attempted murder.
Police officials confirmed that the victim remains in critical condition but out of immediate danger. “Both accused have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway,” an officer from Kalewadi Police Station said.
This incident has once again raised concerns about rising domestic violence cases in urban areas.
