Pune: District Collector Jitendra Dudi: Situation Under Control, But Flood Risk if Rain Persists in Pune
Pune, 19th August 2025: Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi on Tuesday assured citizens that the overall flood situation in the district remains under control despite continuous rainfall in the dam catchment areas. However, he cautioned that if the rains continue at the same intensity, certain low-lying parts of the city may face flood-like conditions.
Dudi said he is in constant touch with all departments and disaster management agencies to monitor the evolving situation. “If heavy rainfall continues in the dam chain region, the discharge from reservoirs may need to be increased. At present, the situation is completely under control, but urban areas require close attention,” he stated.
He further clarified that in areas falling under the flood control line, evacuation instructions will be issued to residents if necessary. Preparations for such contingencies are already in place, he added.
The statement comes after the Khadakwasla dam discharge was increased to 24,827 cusecs on Tuesday afternoon, raising water levels in the Mutha River. Authorities have already urged people in flood-prone zones to remain alert and avoid venturing near the riverbed.
