Raigad Tragedy: Boat Capsizes Off Coast, Rescue Operations in Full Swing

Raigad, 21st August 2025: A major mishap occurred off the Raigad coast on Monday after a boat capsized under unclear circumstances, sparking urgent rescue operations. Authorities fear that several passengers may have drowned, though the exact number of people on board and details of the boat’s ownership are yet to be confirmed.

Rescue teams are working at full speed, using ropes to tow the vessel towards shore. A helicopter has also been deployed to support the operation. Initial reports suggest the boat may have been out on a fishing trip before it began taking on water and eventually overturned.

Senior NCP leader Sunil Tatkare has called for immediate rescue measures and stressed that complete details regarding the passengers and boat ownership will emerge only after the operation concludes.

Meanwhile, local fishermen have been advised to exercise extreme caution, as rough sea conditions in recent days have increased the risks for small and mid-sized fishing boats.
