Pune: One Woman Killed, 12 Injured in Major Accident on Pune–Solapur Highway Near Loni Devkar
Indapur, 21st August 2025: A tragic road accident occurred early Thursday morning on the Pune–Solapur National Highway near Loni Devkar village in Indapur taluka, leaving one woman dead and around 12 others seriously injured.
According to initial reports, a Cruiser vehicle (KA-33 A-8572) carrying 14 passengers from Karnataka’s Vijayapura district was heading towards Solapur when it rammed into the rear of an unidentified vehicle at high speed. The driver, identified as Shrikant Kulgairi (30), allegedly lost control while driving recklessly, leading to the fatal crash.
The deceased has been identified as Yallava Chowndki (50), a resident of Vijayapura, Karnataka. The other injured passengers, many of whom sustained severe injuries, were rushed to government and private hospitals in Indapur and Bhigwan for emergency treatment.
Local villagers immediately rushed to the accident site and assisted the police in shifting the injured to hospitals.
Police have registered a case, and further investigations are underway to trace the unidentified vehicle involved in the collision.
