Pune, 25th August 2025: In an effort to ensure an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched ward-wise Ganesh idol collection centres under its Recycling and Reuse Initiative. The drive is being managed by the Solid Waste Management Department.

These centres have been installed at various locations across the city to collect shadu-mati (clay) idols for safe disposal and recycling. Each centre’s address and contact details have been shared ward-wise, making it convenient for citizens to locate and use them.

PMC has appealed to devotees to utilize these facilities instead of immersing idols in natural water bodies, thereby reducing environmental pollution.
