Khadki, 26th August 2025: A finance professional was brutally assaulted by 4-6 men on Khadki Road after he stopped two bikers from driving on the wrong side, raising serious questions about police response to road rage incidents.

Satyam Bhargav (29), a resident of Kharadi, was attacked around 5:30 pm on Monday near the Gurudwara on Elphinstone Road, Khadki. According to Bhargav, two men on a two-wheeler blocked his car after he asked them to follow traffic rules. The situation quickly escalated when the bikers physically assaulted him, causing a nose fracture and profuse bleeding. They also called two accomplices on a bullet motorcycle who joined in the assault.

“My nose was broken, blood was everywhere, and they also took my gold chain and some cash. I kept calling emergency number 112, but by the time the police arrived, the attackers had fled,” Bhargav recounted.

Dashcam footage of the incident captures the full sequence of the attack.
Despite the severity of the injuries, Khadki police registered a non-cognisable (NC) offence rather than an FIR, requiring a court order for further investigation instead of allowing immediate action. Bhargav alleges he was forced to wait at the police station for over three hours before being informed of this decision.

“The police said they would verify the video before taking further steps. I was at the station past midnight,” he said.

Bhargav was first taken to Khadki Cantonment Hospital and later referred to YCM Hospital, Pimpri, due to continuous bleeding. Medical reports confirmed a fractured nose.

NC cases limit police authority to arrest suspects without prior court approval, prompting criticism over the handling of this violent road rage incident.

When approached, DCP (Zone 4) Somay Munde said he would look into the matter.

This incident highlights growing concerns over road rage in Pune and the police’s response to violent attacks, leaving citizens questioning whether traffic safety enforcement is adequate to protect residents from similar assaults.
