Pune Administration to Complete Katraj-Kondhwa Road Widening by June 2026
Katraj, 27th August 2025: The long-pending widening of the Katraj-Kondhwa road, stalled for over a decade, is set to be completed within a year, the Pune Municipal Corporation announced on Tuesday.
Commissioner Navalkishore Ram stated that a fund of Rs 470 crore will be deposited with the District Collector within the next two months to acquire the necessary land for the project. The road widening, initially approved for a width of 84 meters, faced multiple revisions and fund escalations, resulting in delays in land acquisition and overall project execution.
To expedite the process, funds from the state government will be combined with the Municipal Corporation’s resources. Meanwhile, work has commenced on a key property at Katraj Chowk, which recently came under the Municipal Corporation’s possession, though it has not yet been put to use.
A flyover costing Rs 210 crore is also under construction along the stretch. Currently, work is progressing based on a 50-meter road width.
Commissioner Ram emphasized, “This project has been delayed for the last ten years. However, it has now been given priority, and the entire widening work will be completed by June next year.”
The completion of this project is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity between Katraj and Kondhwa, benefitting thousands of daily commuters.
