Hinjawadi to Balewadi: Pune Metro’s First Trial Beyond IT Hub
Hinjawadi, 27th August 2025: On the festive occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, Pune Metro achieved another milestone by successfully completing a trial run on the Maan–Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar route. For the first time, the metro extended its trial operations beyond Hinjawadi, running from Maan Depot to the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex station at Mhalunge-Balewadi.
Earlier, three trial runs were conducted, but all were limited to the Maan–Hinjewadi stretch. Today’s trial marked a significant step forward as the metro traversed outside the Hinjawadi IT hub. The run was carried out between Maan Depot and Station No. 10 near Mhalunge-Balewadi Sports Complex.
Officials, engineers, and technicians of Pune Metro were present during the trial to monitor operations and ensure smooth functioning. The successful run has raised hopes for faster progress toward the eventual launch of metro services on this crucial route, which is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters, especially IT professionals working in Hinjawadi.
