No Exams During Ganeshotsav: Maharashtra Government Issues Order
Pune, 28th August 2025: With Ganeshotsav officially declared a state festival, the Higher and Technical Education Department has directed universities and colleges to avoid scheduling examinations between Ganesh Chaturthi and Anant Chaturdashi.
The directive comes after some institutions had planned exams during the festive period, leading to confusion among students and parents. In an official communication, Section Officer Sanchita Jadhav instructed all universities to comply with the order.
Student organisations had also pressed for this decision. Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNS) president Amit had appealed to the government to postpone exams, while Uddhav Thackeray echoed the demand, stressing that students should be able to celebrate the festival without academic pressure.
With the new directive, students across Maharashtra are expected to get a clear window free of exams during the 10-day Ganeshotsav celebrations.
