Kondhwa, 1st September 2025: Vishwakarma University, Pune, marked National Sports Day 2025 with a vibrant three-day celebration from August 29 to 31. The events honored the legacy of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand and promoted the values of sportsmanship, fitness, and holistic well-being.

The celebration began on 29th August with an inspiring Expert Talk by Lalit Nahata, FIBA-certified basketball coach and sports administrator. Drawing from his extensive experience in basketball and sports development, Nahata motivated both students and faculty to embrace discipline, teamwork, and consistency in their athletic journeys. Later, he inaugurated the 3×3 Basketball Matches, which saw around 20 men’s and women’s teams competing with immense energy and enthusiasm.

Simultaneously, the Chess competitions added an intellectual edge to the day, encouraging strategic thinking and focus among participants.

On 30th August, the spotlight shifted toward wellness with a rejuvenating Yoga Session conducted by Sunita Chede, an experienced yoga practitioner. The session, attended by nearly 50 students and faculty members, emphasized the balance of physical fitness and mental well-being through mindful practice.

The final day, 31st August, concluded the celebrations on an eco-friendly note with “Sunday on Cycle.” The cycling activity encouraged sustainable fitness and healthy living while receiving overwhelming participation from the university community.

Across three days, the festivities engaged more than 300 participants in diverse activities, creating an environment that blended competition, mindfulness, and community spirit.

Speaking on the occasion, representatives from the Physical Education & Sports Section and the Student Council of Vishwakarma University, who jointly organized the event, emphasized the institution’s commitment to nurturing a culture of health, discipline, and holistic development.

With the resounding success of the National Sports Day celebrations, Vishwakarma University reinforced its vision of encouraging students to integrate sports and wellness into their everyday lives.
