PMC to Develop 75 ‘Model Schools’ for Quality Education
Pune, 4th September 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has rolled out a major initiative to raise the standard of education in its municipal schools. In the first phase, 75 schools will be developed as ‘Model Schools’, with a focus on academics, infrastructure, and holistic student development.
At a review meeting of the Education Board on Wednesday, Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram assessed the current state of municipal schools—including buildings, playgrounds, teacher availability, and student facilities.
“Good buildings and playgrounds alone are not enough. The quality of education must also be elevated. Building on earlier efforts, we will prioritize both the physical and mental growth of students,” Ram said, adding that a detailed action plan will soon be finalized.
Key Focus Areas-
Academic Quality: Strengthening classroom learning, teaching methods, and outcomes.
Infrastructure: Repairing school buildings, upgrading playgrounds, and improving amenities.
Holistic Development: Emphasis on sports, cultural activities, and mental well-being.
Newly Merged Villages: Special attention to repairing schools and playgrounds in the 32 villages recently merged into PMC limits.
Basic Facilities: Ensuring drinking water, toilets, and essential amenities across all schools.
With this initiative, PMC aims to transform municipal schools into model learning centres that offer not just better facilities, but also a strong foundation for students’ overall growth.
