Pune’s Shubhankar Naidu Commissioned as Lieutenant in Indian Army
Sangvi, 13 September 2025: Bringing immense pride to his family and community, Shubhankar Sanjeev Naidu from Pune, has been officially commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army. He received his commission after successfully completing his officer training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai.
Resident of Old Sangvi, Shubhankar’s aspiration to join the armed forces began at an early age. Frequent visits to his grandparents’ home near the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla had a lasting impact on him. Accompanying his grandmother to the NDA campus, he was inspired by the discipline and environment there. By the time he reached Class 6, he had already set his heart on becoming an Army officer.
His father, Sanjeev Raju Naidu, an employee at the Ammunition Factory in Khadki, played a key role in nurturing this dream, often taking him to Factory Day exhibitions. His mother, Neelima, is a teacher, and his younger brother, Abhinav, currently in Class 12, has also expressed a strong desire to serve the nation.
Academic and NCC Excellence:
Shubhankar’s academic journey began at Bharati Vidya Bhavan on Senapati Bapat Road, Pune, where he studied till Class 10. He later pursued his Class 12 studies in the Science stream at Bhonsala Military School, Nagpur. During his graduation at Garware College, Pune, he became actively involved in the National Cadet Corps (NCC).
His outstanding leadership and dedication earned him the title of Maharashtra’s Best Cadet in 2020. He also had the honour of leading the state contingent during the Republic Day Parade at Rajpath in Delhi, an experience that further cemented his path toward military service.
In addition to his academic and NCC achievements, Shubhankar also excelled in sports. He played chess at the school level and won a gold medal in district-level boxing while representing Nagpur during his Class 12 years.
Shubhankar is also known for his love of biking, trekking, and reading. His journey to becoming an officer was further supported by guidance from Anis Kuttie Sir at Anis Defence Academy.
The news of Shubhankar’s commissioning has been met with celebration and pride. His family, teachers, and mentors have expressed immense joy at his achievement, commending his unwavering dedication and commitment to serving the nation.
