MSEDCL Announces Amnesty Scheme, Offers 100% Interest Waiver to Disconnected Domestic, Commercial Consumers
Mumbai, 6th November 2026: Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has announced an amnesty scheme for non-agricultural consumers whose electricity connections have been permanently or temporarily disconnected, offering a 100% waiver on accumulated interest and late payment charges.
The scheme, launched on Thursday at MSEDCL’s headquarters in the presence of its chairman and managing director Lokesh Chandra, will remain in force from November 6, 2026, to January 15, 2027.
Under the scheme, eligible consumers will receive a complete waiver of interest and delayed payment charges on their outstanding dues. Domestic, commercial and industrial consumers (excluding agricultural connections and water supply schemes) whose connections were permanently disconnected by March 31, 2026, and those whose temporary connections were disconnected by December 31, 2025, will be eligible.
Consumers who pay their entire principal outstanding amount in a single instalment by December 15 will also be entitled to an additional early-bird rebate. Low-tension domestic and commercial consumers will receive a rebate ranging from 10% to 20%, while other high-tension and low-tension consumers will be eligible for a special rebate of 10% to 15%.
Additionally, consumers with a sanctioned load of up to 20 kW who opt for prepaid smart meters will receive an extra 5% rebate.
The scheme is expected to benefit around 37.46 lakh consumers across Maharashtra, with interest waivers estimated at nearly Rs2,255 crore. Reconnection charges will also be waived under the scheme.
Consumers can apply for the scheme online through MSEDCL’s official portal and mobile application.
