Pune Police Book Manorama Khedkar in Road Rage–Linked Kidnapping Case
Baner, 15th September 2025: Pune City Police have registered a case against Manorama Khedkar, mother of controversial ex-IAS trainee officer Puja Khedkar, in connection with a road rage incident that escalated into the alleged abduction of a truck helper in Navi Mumbai.
The FIR has been filed at Chaturshrangi Police Station under Sections 221, 238, and 263 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The incident occurred on Saturday evening around 7:30 p.m. on the Mulund–Airoli road near a McDonald’s outlet. A mixer truck collided with a car, leading to a heated confrontation between the truck crew and the car’s occupants.
According to the complaint filed at Rabale Police Station, Navi Mumbai, the car occupants allegedly forced the truck’s helper, Pralhad Kumar (22), a native of Bihar residing in Turbhe MIDC, into their vehicle on the pretext of taking him to a police station. Instead, they reportedly drove towards Pune.
Truck owner Vilas Dhondiram Dhengare (53), a resident of Kharghar, told the police that his driver informed him about the accident and the subsequent abduction of his helper. “They said they were going to the police, but they never did,” Dhengare said in his statement.
Based on vehicle registration details, Navi Mumbai police traced the car to a residential society in Baner, Pune. A team led by Assistant Police Inspector Kharat reached the location and identified the house linked to the registration. When the team rang the bell, Manorama Khedkar allegedly confronted them, obstructed their entry, and attempted to shield the accused.
An argument reportedly ensued, and the matter was escalated to Chaturshrangi Police Station, which has local jurisdiction. The Navi Mumbai police eventually rescued the abducted truck helper from the premises.
A video clip of the altercation between Khedkar and the Navi Mumbai police team has gone viral on social media, drawing sharp public reactions.
Meanwhile, Rabale Police Station has registered a separate FIR under Section 137 of the BNS, pertaining to kidnapping, against the unidentified car occupants.
Authorities said further investigation is underway to establish the role of all accused in the case.
