Constitution Literacy and Distribution Ceremony Held with Enthusiasm at Daund College
Daund, 16th September 2025: The Constitution Literacy and Constitution Distribution Ceremony was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Daund Taluka Arts and Commerce College, run by Naigaon Education Society, Mumbai. The program aimed to spread awareness of the Constitution among students and to instill democratic values.
The initiative was jointly organized by the Student Development Board, National Service Scheme (NSS), and Dr. Tanaji Salve Social Foundation, Pune.
Senior economist Dr. Santosh Dastane chaired the program, while the chief guests included Prof. (Dr.) Vilas Adhav, Director of the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension, Savitribai Phule Pune University, and Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta Salve, Chairperson of Dr. Tanaji Salve Social Foundation, Pune.
The ceremony began with the garlanding of statues of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, architect of the Constitution, and Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule, followed by the felicitation of dignitaries by the college Principal and Vice-Principal.
Vice-Principal Dr. Sanjeevani Shirguppe delivered the program’s introduction, while Principal Dr. Bhaskar Jangle introduced the guests. Professors Mahendra Mane, Dr. Raghuraj Kurumkar, Dr. Archana Gaikwad, and others were also present.
The dignitaries delivered insightful guidance on the making of the Constitution, its fundamental principles, citizens’ rights and duties, and the responsibility of safeguarding values such as equality, fraternity, and justice.
Dr. Dastane emphasized that the Constitution provides a strong foundation for equality in economic, social, and educational sectors. Prof. (Dr.) Adhav urged students to apply constitutional values in their daily lives.
Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta Salve highlighted the legacy of her late husband, Dr. Tanaji Salve, in advancing social work and democratic values. She remarked that the Constitution should not be seen merely as a legal text but as a powerful instrument for social transformation.
As part of the program, copies of the Constitution were distributed among students and faculty, reinforcing the message of constitutional literacy. The enthusiastic participation of students contributed significantly to the success of the event.
Various departments of the college worked together to ensure the smooth organization of the ceremony, which served as a meaningful step toward promoting constitutional awareness across society.
