AFMC Pune Hosts Tri-Services Inter-Academy Debate and Quiz “Sameeksha Jigyasa 2025”

Pune, 16th September 2025: The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, successfully hosted the Tri-Services Inter-Academy Debate and Quiz Competition, “Sameeksha Jigyasa 2025,” on 15 and 16 September. The two-day event brought together cadets from six premier military academies in a spirited contest of knowledge, oratory, and strategic thinking.

Participating teams represented the National Defence Academy (Khadakwasla), Indian Naval Academy (Ezhimala), Air Force Academy (Dundigal), College of Military Engineering (Pune), Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (Mhow), and the host institution, AFMC. The competitions reflected not just academic brilliance but also the camaraderie and ethos that bind the Armed Forces.

Lieutenant General A.K. Ramesh, SM, Commandant of the College of Military Engineering, Pune, attended as Chief Guest. In his address, he remarked, “Clarity of thought, resilience of mind, and moral conviction are as vital as physical strength for a soldier. I congratulate all the cadets and their mentors for demonstrating these qualities with such excellence.”

The debate competition, “Sameeksha,” saw participants engage in thought-provoking discussions on current geopolitical and strategic issues. Their sharp analysis and eloquence drew praise from the judging panel, which included Lt Gen Noble Thamburaj, PVSM, SM (Retd), Maj Gen Ramesh Kaushik, SM (Retd), and Col R.S. Bhatia (Retd).

The quiz segment, “Jigyasa,” focused on the Second World War and tested cadets on strategy, history, and tactics. It was conducted by quizmaster Col Sameer Gupta (Retd), an eminent onco-surgeon and academician, whose dynamic presentation added depth to the contest.

In the results, Team AFMC, comprising Med Cdt Ayush Kumar Singh and Med Cdt Sambhav Singh, won the debate, while the Air Force Academy team of Flt Cdt Sameeksha Joshi and Flt Cdt Dev Rohil stood second. Med Cdt Sambhav Singh was named Best Speaker, and Flt Cdt Sameeksha Joshi was awarded Second Best Speaker.

The quiz was won by the Indian Naval Academy’s team of MID Ayush Bhoria and Cadet Ayush Shetty, while AFMC’s Med Cdt Priyanshu Mahar and Med Cdt Uday Tej Singh secured the runners-up spot.
AFMC Commandant Lt Gen Pankaj P. Rao and Dean Maj Gen Atul Seth, VSM, were also present at the event.

Beyond the competition, cadets described the gathering as an opportunity to learn, network, and strengthen bonds of friendship across academies. The event closed with AFMC reaffirming its role in shaping not only the intellectual capacity of future officers but also their character and leadership qualities.
