Lonavala Trip Turns Tragic: Two Students Die After Car Hits Container on Pune Highway
Dehu Road, 18th September 2025: Two BBA students of Symbiosis College lost their lives in a tragic road accident early Thursday morning after their car rammed into a container on the bypass road near Eidgah Maidan, Dehu Road.
The incident took place around 6:45 am when the Swift car, carrying four students, collided with a container at high speed. Two students — Siddhant Anand, a resident of Jharkhand, and Divyaraj Singh Rathod, a resident of Rajasthan — died on the spot.
The other two students sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment at a private hospital, police said. All four had gone for a trip to Lonavala on Wednesday and were returning to Pune when the accident occurred.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that the accident may have been caused because the container’s indicator lights were not functioning. The Swift was badly mangled in the crash.
Dehu Road police station (Pimpri Chinchwad police) officials reached the spot soon after the incident and have launched further investigation into the case.
