Pune, 27th September 2025: On the occasion of World Heart Day, Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune, is set to spearhead one of the city’s most extensive community “SAVING LIVES Campaign”.The initiative will focus on two lifesaving measures the installation of 20 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) across Pune’s busiest public locations, and the training of 1000+ of citizens in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)& AEDs.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) remain one of the leading causes of death worldwide, with survival rates dropping by nearly 10% for every minute without intervention. In a bustling city like Pune, waiting for emergency medical services can often take too long. To bridge this gap, Ruby Hall Clinic will be placing AEDs at 10 metro stations, Lifestyle at Koregaon Park, Pune Fincorp. The initiative was graced by the presence of Dr. P.K. Grant, Managing Trustee, Chairman, and Chief Cardiologist of Ruby Hall Clinic, Dr. Simon Grant, Physician and Trustee, Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune; Ms. Natalie Grant Nanda, GM-Strategy & Business Development of Ruby Hall Clinic, Mr. Behram Khodaiji, CEO, Ruby Hall Clinic; Dr Kapil Zirpe, a chest physician at the neuro-intensive care unit of Ruby Hall Clinic.

Complementing the AED installations, comprehensive CPR workshops will train metro staff, mall employees, hotel teams, corporate professionals, and members of the public to recognize cardiac arrest, perform chest compressions, and confidently operate AED machines. Each participant will also receive a certification, empowering them to become first responders in real-life emergencies. To further enhance awareness, Ruby Hall Clinic has produced a short film demonstrating step-by-step AED use and CPR techniques. The film will be shown during the workshops, ensuring participants gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Dr. Purvez Grant, Chief Cardiologist and Chairman and Managing Trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic, said, Our goal is to bring emergency cardiac care out of the hospital and directly into the community. By placing AEDs in high-footfall areas, training citizens, and providing a visual guide through our short film, we ensure immediate help is always within reach. Prompt CPR and defibrillation can dramatically improve survival rates sometimes by as much as 90%.

Dr Simon Grant Physician and Trustee, Ruby Hall Clinic said : “This initiative is very close to my heart. Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere at a mall, a metro station, or even in a school. By donating AEDs and training citizens in CPR, we are bridging the critical gap between the onset of cardiac arrest and the arrival of medical help.

Dr. Kapil Zirpe, Chest Physician, Neuro-Intensive Care Unit, Ruby Hall Clinic said : Sudden cardiac arrest is an important public health issue. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is not a heart attack. Time between onset of arrest and provision of care is fundamental, and shortening this time is one of the best ways to reduce the risk of death and disability from cardiac arrest.

Our goal is to empower ordinary people to act with confidence in those moments and save lives.

Ruby Hall Clinic has reaffirmed its role as a leader not only in advanced medical care but also in community-driven healthcare solutions. With initiatives like these, the hospital envisions a future where every public space in Pune is equipped for emergencies, and every citizen feels empowered to save a life.
