Nana Peth, 5th October 2025: The Pune police have arrested five youths for uploading social media reels in support of the notorious Andekar gang.

The accused — Manthan Sachin Bhalerao, Faizan Sheikh, Piyush Bidkar, Atharva Nalawade, and Omkar Mergu — have been booked under relevant sections for inciting crime. A case has been registered at Samarth Police Station, and further investigation is ongoing.

According to police, the accused posted content on their social media accounts glorifying the Andekar gang, including messages such as “Badla toh fix, reply hoga.…, which was deemed as encouraging criminal activity. Authorities detained the youths following these posts and paraded them in their locality.

The Andekar gang has been under the Pune police radar for years. Earlier, strict action under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MOCA) was taken against 20 members, including gang leader Bandu Andekar, in connection with the Ayush Komkar case and other crimes. Recent complaints and new evidence have led to the registration of two additional cases against the gang.
