Kharadi, 5th October 2025: MLA Bapu Pathare of the NCP (Sharad Chandra Pawar faction) from Vadgaon Sheri constituency has alleged that he, along with his driver and bodyguard, was assaulted during an argument with Bandu Khandve, a leader from Ajit Pawar’s NCP, in Lohgaon last night. Conflicting complaints have been filed at Vimantal Police Station in connection with the incident.

Speaking at a press conference today, Pathare said the incident occurred while he was attending a program in Lohgaon. “Bandu Khandve had organized an agitation in the area. He confronted me, claiming I had organized a separate agitation and questioned why I was opposing his,” Pathare said. He added that during the confrontation, Khandve allegedly tried to attack him. “My driver intervened and was beaten by Khandve and his supporters. My bodyguard was also assaulted, and shortly after, around 100 people gathered and attacked my driver with kicks and punches. Even my brother’s son was injured in the scuffle,” the MLA said.

Pathare further explained that the confrontation was linked to long-standing civic issues in Lohgaon. “There have been problems with the roads here. These roads were approved on December 8, 2023, but construction has not been completed. I had raised concerns about proper laying of pipelines and drainage before road work, but the delay sparked this confrontation,” he said.

He claimed that the assault was politically motivated with municipal elections in mind. “This was a planned attempt to create unrest. Our people were injured, and no case could be registered last night as it was late. We are now proceeding with filing a complaint. I have spoken to senior leaders and will also report the matter to Ajit Pawar. Strict action must be taken against those who attacked us,” Pathare added.
