Pune, 10th October 2025: To ensure better quality and hygiene in its dining facilities, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has announced the formation of a Dining Hall Quality Control Committee. The committee will comprise ten student members, including five male and five female students, who will work alongside university officials to monitor and maintain food standards.

The university’s Assistant Registrar, Shivaji Uttekar, issued a circular inviting students to apply for the committee. Interested students, residing in university hostels, must submit their applications through their hostel heads to the Assistant Registrar of the Department of Housing Management by October 15.

“The committee is being set up to maintain the quality of food in the university dining hall. Students will have a direct role in ensuring standards are upheld,” Uttekar said.

If sufficient applications are not received, the relevant posts may remain vacant. Students who were previously part of the committee are not eligible for reappointment. The tenure of the committee will be one year, and its operations will follow the directions of the Dining Hall and Dining Hall Vigilance Committee, the circular clarified.

This initiative allows students from various academic departments, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. courses, to have a voice in improving their hostel dining experience.
