Pune: Five-Year-Old Girl Killed in Leopard Attack in Shirur Taluka
Shirur, 13th October 2025: A five-and-a-half-year-old girl, Shivanya Shailesh Bombe, tragically died after being attacked by a leopard in broad daylight in Pimparkhed. This marks the ninth leopard attack in the area over the past few years, creating widespread fear among local residents. The forest department has urged authorities to capture and control the leopard immediately.
The incident occurred when farmer Arun Bombe was ploughing his farmland behind his house. Shivanya, his granddaughter, was carrying water to her workplace when a leopard, hiding in a nearby sugarcane field, attacked her. Witnessing the attack, Arun Bombe rushed to the field and managed to rescue Shivanya from the leopard’s grasp.
Shivanya was immediately taken to a hospital in Manchar for treatment, but she succumbed to her injuries before she could receive medical care.
Local residents have expressed shock and fear, calling for urgent action to prevent further attacks. The forest department has assured that measures will be taken to trap and relocate the leopard to ensure the safety of the community.
